Regardless of the frigid winter weather, our dedicated members conducted an ice rescue drill Saturday morning at the Manahawkin Lake to practice rescuing techniques in case of an actual ice rescue emergency. Great job to everyone who participated! **THIS WAS NOT A REAL EMERGENCY!**

"Flooding in Stafford"

On the morning of August 13, 2014, a heavy band of rain showers rolled through our area. With that, we were dispatched to our first call at 01:27 (1:27AM), for multiple vehicles trapped in flood waters along Route 72. Approx. 20 minutes after our first call, we were requested into Barnegat Township for a working structure fire @ 4 Transom Ln. Later, at 04:55 (4:55AM), we were dispatched for a fuel tanker that was stuck on the Causeway Bridge as it was collapsing. Because of that call, our Fire Police were also requested to come and assist with traffic at 05:11 (5:11AM). A few hours later, at 09:32 (9:32AM) we responded to Barnegat Township for a Fire Alarm Activation @ 180 Bengal Blvd. It was a busy morning for Stafford and surrounding communities! Great job to all!

“A Busy Day for Station 47!”

On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, we responded to a total of 8 fire calls. The first call was dispatched at 11:11 (11:11am) for a Fire Alarm at 160 Torpedo Rd. Only about 45 minutes after that, we were hit out for another Fire Alarm at 1322 W Rt. 72 at 11:54 (11:54am). Crews discovered faulty detectors and were cleared from the scene. Two more Fire Alarms followed at 13:43 (1:43pm) and 14:56 (2:56pm). Our 5th call of the day was a “Wires call” (Electric Wires on the ground) at 20 Ruth Ann Dr. at 16:11 (4:11pm). Shortly after arriving on scene, it was discovered that they were only telephone wires and all units were released.

On Tuesday evening a line of thunderstorms rolled through, in which the final 3 calls of the day occurred. At 19:08 (7:09pm), our 6th call was for an activated Fire Alarm at 221 Laurel Ct. Following that was a call for a Lightning Strike to a residence at 37 Sylvia Ln. at 19:44 (7:44pm). Once crews had returned from that call, a Structure Fire occurred in Eagleswood Twhshp, NJ, in which our company responded mutual aid for the FAST team at 20:05 (8:05pm). It was a very busy day for Station 47, but all calls were answered promptly and all members were returned home safely! This brings the total amount of calls to 338 for the year 2014!
